New and Old Holiday Traditions

It seems that many of us have had to navigate the holiday season in new ways. For all of us life changes: health issues arise, friends relocate, family members may be distant, and those cherished traditions that once defined the holidays sometimes slip away.

This year I will be volunteering at a free community meal. It is a way to give more than gifts, and an opportunity to be around cheerful people who may have had to rethink the holidays, just like I have.

I’m looking forward to this new tradition, this new kind of generosity.

Have you had to re-imagine your seasonal traditions? Will you do things differently, or will you stick to most if not all of your favorite activities? If you are doing something new, what will that look like?

No matter what these winter holidays hold for each of us, I wish you and yours safety, kindness, peace, compassion, and strength.
